My Methodology

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته

Many have asked about my background and the approach I follow. I am a Salafī seeker of knowledge, mostly self-taught, who consults and trusts certain scholars, mainly from Ahl as-Sunnah in Yemen.

I’m sharing the preface written by Shaykh Abū al-Yamān ʿAdnān al-Maṣqarī (ḥafiẓahu Allāh) for one of my works, but it also shows the methodology and manhaj I try to follow.

You can also see which scholars I rely on from my posts and the things I share.

May Allah guide us to benefit from knowledge sincerely for His sake.

Preface by Shaykh Abū al-Yamān ʿAdnān ibn Ḥusayn al-Maṣqarī al-Yamānī
May Allah preserve him

To proceed:

The issue of image-making—particularly the depiction of animate beings—is among the matters concerning which discussion has greatly multiplied in this age, disagreement has widened, and many people have dared to contravene that which the explicit texts have clearly stated as prohibited and sternly warned against. It has reached the point that, for some, it has become one of the familiar permissibilities, to which no attention is paid with respect to the revealed texts, nor is consideration given to the objectives of the Sharīʿah in blocking the means to shirk and ghuluww (excess).

I have examined this treatise in which our esteemed brother, the researcher ʿAbd ar-Raḥmān ibn Mīhūb al-Qaddārī—may Allah grant success, guide his steps, and bless him in what He has bestowed upon him—has clarified the causes underlying the prohibition of depicting animate beings, refined the position on this matter in accordance with the legal proofs from the Book and Sunnah, and the methodology of the righteous Salaf in understanding and dealing with them, far removed from exaggeration or undue leniency, relying upon what he has transmitted from the works of creed, the books of Sunan, and the explanations of firmly-grounded scholars.

This research is an excerpt from the book “Buzūgh Ḍiyāʾ al-Fajr al-Waḍḍāʾ ʿalā Saḥar Masʾalat al-Taṣwīr bi-l-Aḍwāʾ” by the same author, intended to bring benefit closer and to facilitate access to a sound grounding of the issue for those for whom consulting the original work is not readily possible.

I ask Allāh, Exalted is He, to grant benefit through it; to render what he has written in this work sincerely for His Noble Face; to benefit thereby its author and its reader; and to make us and you among those who follow the truth, hold fast to the Sunnah, and venerate the rites of Allāh and the limits He set.

And the last of our supplications is that all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. May Allāh send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muḥammad, and upon his family and all of his Companions.
