Put That Phone Down

Some have said:
We used to live the most beautiful moments without photographing them;
now we photograph the most beautiful moments without living them.

I say: This is an admonition even for those whom Allah has guided to recognize the prohibition of depicting animate beings.

Put that phone aside. Refrain from photographing this and that, and from publishing this and that.

Especially if you are among those who call to Allah, because by doing this you accustom people to waving their phones everywhere:
“Shaykh so-and-so does this; don't be so strict akhi”.

How many times has a shaykh photographed animate beings without paying attention, and then published it?

Why place yourself in such a position?

It is because you do not truly realize prohibition of tasweer and its severity, even if you think you do, whoever you may be.

What sufficed those before you, and sufficed our senior scholars, should suffice you as well.
We do not know of them such expansion in this matter, nor the spreading of it. We do not see this as part of the bearing (samt—سمت) of the people of knowledge and virtue.
